Nada Vipanchi organizes a variety of events throughout the year to foster a community of carnatic music enthusiasts. The following events provide opportunities for performers and enthusiasts alike. We want to know from North American artists and students who would like to perform or volunteer in Nada Vipanchi events.

Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam

Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam is Nada Vipanchi’s flagship festival celebrated every year in March to pay tribute to all great composers. The festival features thematic group concerts. Thematic concert performers highlight the sahityam (lyrics) of compositions and explain the context or related anecdotes. Each concert group is composed of three or more melody artists, with at least one vocal performer singing the krithis chosen for the concert theme. If melody instrumental performers (violin, veena, flute, keyboard etc.) are part of the group, they should be prepared to play all of the selected krithis and perform throughout the thematic concert (as opposed to accompanying the concert).

Application for theme-based group concerts in the Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam 2019 will be open from September 1 to October 31, 2018. Application form link will be provided on this website and shared by email and on Nada Vipanchi Facebook. If you wish to be added to the Nada Vipanchi mailing list, please let us know using the Contact Form.

Carnatic 'Jam'boree

Held in summer, Carnatic ‘Jam’boree provides an informal, fun-filled forum. 'Jam'boree aims to build a community of enthusiasts and catalyze team-building among students. Music students and rasikas of all ages can participate. This is an evolving program, and it currently conceptualizes jamming sessions with feedback and carnatic music themed games. Everyone who wants to participate in the 'Jam'boree, or to volunteer during the event, please let us know by April 30th.

Short concert presentations

Nada Vipanchi nurtures and and encourages students to perform and advance in their musical journey. Short concerts that range from 15 to 30 minutes are held as part of Chamber Concerts and RTP-in-RTP concert festivals. Students who are at the advanced level may apply with a performance recording that shows their talent and level of learning. Those who have demonstrated talent rendering alapana, neraval, and swaram will be assigned 30 minutes.

Chamber Concerts

Students who have presented an hour or longer concerts in forums like the iCarnatic festival, the Cleveland Aradhana, or equivalent may apply with a recent video recording.

RTP-in-RTP concerts

Held a few times each year, this concert series offers Ragam-Thanam-Pallavi concerts to the RTP area rasikas. Performers who have presented pallavi concerts in the iCarnatic festival, Cleveland Aradhana, or equivalent forums may apply with a video recording.
